Growing To Give's leadership has contributed extensively to conversations surrounding sustainable food systems, home food production, resource-smart growing practices, community resilience, and practical solutions for a world in transition. Drawing on decades of hands-on experience and advocacy, these publications are designed to educate, inspire, and empower individuals and communities to take meaningful action.
Global Resilience & International Recognition
From food insecurity and climate disruption to fragile supply chains and island resilience, Growing To Give explores practical responses to some of the defining challenges of our time. These articles examine how communities can strengthen resilience through innovation, local leadership, and regenerative systems thinking—empowering people to build stronger, more self-reliant futures in a rapidly changing world.
Featured Recognition & Publications:
• Food Planet Prize - In 2024, Growing To Give's initiative, Strengthening Community Gardens Across America, Africa, and the Caribbean, was recognised among the Food Planet Prize Top 48 longlisted solutions—affirming the importance of community-led approaches to food security and sustainable development.
• World NGO Day – Invited by The Cropper Foundation in Trinidad and Tobago, Growing To Give participated in World NGO Day conversations on food security and climate resilience. Opening her remarks, co-founder Siobhan Shaw stated, "What I have to say affects you. People are hungry. People are dying of starvation. That's why we're Growing To Give." Her address challenged audiences to consider how overconsumption, waste, and fragile food systems disproportionately affect island communities already experiencing the front lines of climate and inflation-related pressures.
• Tech Fest Trinidad 2023 – Growing To Give Co-founder Siobhan Shaw was invited to speak at Draper Startup House – CARICOM as the only woman participating on a panel exploring sustainable agriculture innovation and social impact. Sharing her personal mission to empower women through food production, Siobhan challenged audiences to recognise the transformative role women play in building resilient communities, stating, "Give a woman food and you feed her family. Teach a woman to grow food and she will feed her community."
Cancer Support Initiatives
Cancer changes lives, but no one should have to navigate that journey alone. Through Growing To Give's cancer support initiatives, we provide practical, compassionate resources for patients, caregivers, and communities covering nutrition, wellness, therapeutic gardens, recovery, emotional resilience, and supportive care. Rooted in lived experience and community advocacy, these publications are designed to inform, encourage, and remind people that hope and healing extend far beyond treatment.
